Help Make America a Better Place
At Wave the Flag, our primary goal is to increase flag awareness. We want people to start looking at their American Flags and noticing the condition of the flags. Vibrant? Or, faded? Strong body? Or, tattered? Crisp Trailing Edge? Or, ripped?

Most often, people say they just didn't notice the ragged condition of their flag. "You know, you pass it every day and it just gets away from you before you notice it." I bet you'd notice if your suit pocket was ripped away. Or, a 15" rip in your dress. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but, think about it folks. Think about it.

We Support the Flag Keepers
Please visit the Flag Keepers website by clicking this link!

We support The Flag Keepers. Their goals are to bring about the respectful display of the American flag, the removal of those flags that are dirty and ragged, and the nurturing of patriotic values.

Every month due to the efforts of patriotic flag watchers hundreds and hundreds of worn, faded, torn and ragged U.S. flags are being replaced with vibrant Stars and Stripes flowing free to the wind! Their goal is to see tens of thousands of ragged U.S. flags replaced throughout America.

Remember to check your American flag! Getting a little dirty? Maybe need a minor sewing repair? Your local dry cleaners can take care of those minor problems.
For information on how to display your flag select the "Featured Sites" button on the left side of this page. Or visit The Flag Keepers!

How to Report a Flag: Report Tattered and Unsightly American and State Flags - Flag Rescue!
Click here to report a tattered, ragged, dirty or torn flag. Simple and easy form. Your personal information is never released to anyone under any circumstances.

Look for dirty flags, ragged flags, torn flags and faded flags. Flags with torn, ripped, and tattered trailing edges are the most common types of torn-up flags reported. You don't have to limit torn and ragged flag reports to the American flag. Consideration should also be given to official state flags and city flags. Real or false patriotism can be reflected in a flag's condition. Automobile dealerships and banks represent the largest segment of businesses flying  ragged, torn and faded flags from flag poles. One flag pole with one ragged flag is one flag pole too many. Realistically, there will always be flag poles flying ragged and faded flags. Our job is to make America a better place by reducing the number of ragged flags from flag poles in front of businesses and government agencies.

Your Flag Facts

Between 1777 and 1960, Congress passed several acts that changed the shape, design and arrangement of the flag and allowed for additional stars and stripes to be added to reflect the admission of each new state.

Today the flag consists of thirteen horizontal stripes, seven red alternating with 6 white. The stripes represent the original 13 colonies, the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well; red symbolizes hardiness and valor; white symbolizes purity and innocence and blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice.

The Flag Keepers - A National Heritage Foundation
The Flag Keepers, a non-profit incorporated in NC, exists to bring about the removal of publicly displayed, torn and dirty American flags by seeking to have them removed or replaced. Additionally, the Flag Keepers Foundation is committed to instilling moral values in American citizens via flag education and Flag Keeper Projects.

Located in Kannapolis, NC we currently have volunteers in a few states. Eventually we'll be recruiting Flag Keepers in every state.

Lift your heart! The next sunny day that has a really nice breeze, look for a
high flying, vibrant American Flag ... and give it a look!

Celebrate America! Celebrate Liberty!
